China’s FM Wang Yi Meets EU Envoys, Proposes Roadmap for Stronger Ties on 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Beijing – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with diplomatic envoys from the European Union and its member states in Beijing as part of events marking the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations.

During the meeting, Wang Yi emphasized that China and the EU, as two influential and constructive forces in the global arena, have a shared responsibility to inject greater stability and certainty into a world facing increasing geopolitical and economic challenges.

To strengthen the future of China-EU ties, FM Wang Yi laid out a three-point proposal:

Uphold mutual respect – Ensuring equality and understanding remain central to the relationship.
Stay committed to the partnership – Preserving and reinforcing the diplomatic and economic foundation.
Jointly uphold multilateralism – Working together to support the international order and global cooperation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian underscored the significance of this dialogue, noting that the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations is an opportunity to deepen strategic communication and mutual trust.
