Vienna — On 14 August, a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Vienna, Austria, to mark the 78th Independence Day and the Day of Truth. Hosted under the patronage of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Austria, Muhammad Kamran Akhtar, the event drew Pakistani community members from various Austrian cities, including women, children, and elders, who gathered to express their deep love for their homeland.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Manzoor Ahmed. Head of Chancery Adeel Khan Afridi served as the stage secretary, congratulating the community on the national day and thanking them for their participation. Ambassador Kamran Akhtar hoisted the national flag and read out special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the occasion.
In his address, the Ambassador paid tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan, especially Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for his vision and statesmanship. He reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to continue building a democratic, progressive, and prosperous Islamic state. He also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia and its resilience in defeating terrorism.
The Ambassador urged the community to remain united and respond to negative propaganda against Pakistan through peaceful and constructive means. The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the country’s security, progress, and prosperity, followed by the cutting of the Independence Day cake with members of the community.
