The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued an official statement Friday marking International Quds Day, calling for a unified global front against the "usurpation" of Palestinian lands. As the holy month of Ramadan concludes, Tehran emphasized its unwavering support for the Palestinian right to self-determination while condemning the ongoing military actions of the Zionist regime and its Western allies.
A Symbol of Global Resistance
Established by the late Imam Khomeini, International Quds Day serves as a yearly focal point for the Islamic world to protest the occupation of Palestine. The Ministry described the day as a "natural and moral opposition" to organized oppression, framing it as a litmus test for the human conscience.
The Iranian government reiterated that the day is not merely a regional observation but a symbol of the struggle against apartheid and colonialism. It remains a pillar of Iran’s foreign policy to challenge the legitimacy of what it labels a "fake and terrorist entity" in West Asia.
Escalating Humanitarian Concerns in Gaza and the West Bank
The Ministry’s statement highlighted the "horrific genocide" occurring in the occupied territories, citing a staggering death toll. According to the Ministry, the regime has been responsible for the deaths of approximately 75,000 innocent people in occupied Palestine over the last three years alone.
Systematic Killings: Iran condemned the ongoing violence in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Forced Displacement: The statement criticized the "colonial policy of annihilation" aimed at removing Palestinians from their ancestral homes.
Media Warfare: Tehran accused the regime of using a "diabolical media campaign" to distort reality and switch the roles of executioner and victim.
Defending National Sovereignty Against Aggression
This year’s observance comes at a time of heightened regional tension. The Ministry asserted that the Iranian nation is currently defending its own territorial integrity against military provocations from the United States and the Zionist regime.
The statement characterized these external military actions as part of a broader "evil conspiracy" to realize the "Greater Israel" ambition. The Ministry warned that such aggression is not only a threat to Iran but an attack on the stability of the entire Islamic world.
A Call for International Accountability
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded by urging the United Nations and the broader international community to move beyond rhetoric. It called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
"It is the moral and legal duty of all countries to support the Palestinian people on the path to realizing their fundamental rights and ending the yoke of occupation."
The statement ended with a tribute to the "martyrs of the resistance" across Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran, pledging to uphold the legacy of the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
