A high-level trade delegation from Pakistan, led by Mr. Nadeem Alam, President of the Hunza Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Ahsen from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, visited the Pakistan High Commission (PAHIC) Nairobi this week. The visit marks a strategic push to expand Pakistan's commercial footprint within the East African landscape.
High-Level Diplomatic Engagement
The delegation was warmly hosted for tea by H.E. Ibrar Hussein Khan and Commercial Counsellor Ms. Adeela Younis. During the meeting, officials and chamber members engaged in deep-dive discussions regarding the Kenyan market's demand for Pakistani exports.
Key Sectors for Export Expansion
The discussions centered on several high-potential sectors where Pakistani products hold a competitive edge. The primary commodities identified for trade growth include:
Rice: Leveraging Pakistan's established global reputation for premium grains.
Pink Salt: Tapping into the rising international demand for Himalayan salt products.
Cosmetics: Exploring the growing beauty and personal care segment in Kenya.
Strengthening Business Linkages
The visiting delegates are currently in Nairobi to represent Pakistan at the Kenya International Investment Conference and the COMESA Investment Forum. To ensure these meetings translate into tangible results, PAHIC Nairobi provided the delegation with a curated list of prospective buyers. This data sharing is designed to facilitate direct business-to-business (B2B) engagements and solidify long-term trade linkages between the two nations.
