ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Gordan Grlić Radman, in Islamabad today to finalize strategies for expanding bilateral cooperation. This milestone diplomatic meeting marks the first-ever official visit by a Croatian Foreign Minister to Pakistan, establishing a modern framework for multi-sectoral growth.
The high-level talks focused primarily on expanding Pakistan-Croatia bilateral cooperation across vital economic drivers, prioritizing economic integration and regional stability.
Expanding Trade, Defense, and Economic Ties
Delegation-level talks led by both foreign ministers mapped out expanded collaboration in trade, investment, and infrastructure development. The two nations committed to removing operational barriers to accelerate partnerships across eleven critical sectors.
The extensive diplomatic agenda specifically focused on strengthening mutual ties in the following sectors:
Economic & Mobility: Trade expansion, investment opportunities, labor mobility, and visa facilitation.
Technology & Defense: Information technology (IT) integration and enhanced defense cooperation.
Development & Resources: Agriculture, education, climate change initiatives, and tourism.
Strategic Port Connectivity and EU Relations
Recognizing that maritime connectivity lies at the heart of sustainable development and global economic integration, the leaders analyzed strategic cooperation between Pakistani and Croatian ports. This maritime initiative aims to bridge South Asian trade routes directly with European markets via Croatia's coastal infrastructure.
The dignitaries also exchanged views on expanding the broader framework of Pakistan-European Union (EU) cooperation alongside pressing regional and global security matters.
To sustain this diplomatic momentum, both sides officially agreed to hold a comprehensive round of Bilateral Political Consultations later this year or in early 2027.
