ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — In a direct move to fortify capital defense metrics, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Security Islamabad, Rana Umar Farooq, chaired a high-level operational meeting to comprehensively audit the security grid for visiting foreign delegations. The session focused on upgrading VVIP protocol duties and reviewing the operational capabilities of the Special
Protection Unit (SPU).
The security review brought together top brass from multiple law enforcement wings, including SSP Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Saud Khan, SP CTD Khalid Mahmood Awan, and SP Traffic Majid Iqbal, to synchronize cross-departmental operations.
Modernizing Capital Transit and Counter-Threat Protocols
The specialized meeting allowed officials to review ongoing security measures and identify challenges associated with the safe and smooth transit of local and international dignitaries. To counter evolving regional threats, the leadership discussed upgrading transit security, using defensive formations, and implementing predictive traffic management loops.
DIG Rana Umar Farooq systematically reviewed the performance of both the Security Division and the Special Protection Unit (SPU). He stressed the need to match tactical response routines with modern international protection standards.
