ISLAMABAD — United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Samuel Rizk met with Italian Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Ugo Ciarlatani on September 15, 2026, to expand bilateral cooperation on climate action and sustainable development.
The high-level diplomatic meeting, which also included Paolo Gallizioli, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Islamabad Office, focused on deploying scientific and technology-driven interventions to address Pakistan's pressing environmental challenges.
Scaling Innovation for Climate and Water Security
The tripartite discussions centered on converting shared technical expertise into scalable solutions aligned with Pakistan's national development agenda.
Key priority areas identified during the meeting include:
Climate Resilience: Scaling up infrastructure and community-level mitigation strategies against extreme weather events.
Water Security: Implementing sustainable water resource management and conservation technologies across vulnerable regions.
Sustainable Development: Driving innovation-led initiatives to foster long-term economic and environmental stability.
