The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast the fifth spell of the monsoon season to begin on Friday, warning of possible urban flooding, river overflows and landslides in vulnerable areas.

According to the PDMA, the new weather system is expected to affect several districts across Punjab, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, rivers and canals, while hilly regions may experience landslides.

Light to heavy rainfall has already brought pleasant weather to different parts of Punjab, including Lahore. Cloudy conditions are also expected in several cities, including Sargodha, Chiniot, Multan and Faisalabad, ahead of the fresh spell.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains continue to batter Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing widespread damage in several districts.

According to authorities, at least nine people have died and seven others were injured in rain-related incidents, including flash floods and the collapse of roofs and walls.

The heavy rains have also damaged 103 houses, as rescue and relief efforts continue in the affected areas.
