The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore achieved a major breakthrough by exposing a massive Rs 35 billion online fraud ring operating across Pakistan. During the operation, law enforcement officers arrested the prime suspect, Faheem Akram, who had allegedly been running a sophisticated digital scam network selling counterfeit United States postage stamps since 2023.
High-Tech Investigation and Multi-Province Raids
The extensive operation was executed under the direct supervision of Additional Director Atif Amir, who deployed eight specialized tactical teams. Officers conducted coordinated raids across 35 strategic locations in Punjab, Sindh, and Islamabad to dismantle the network.
Investigators relied on advanced digital forensics and intelligence analysis to track down the syndicate:
10-Day Special Locator Operation: Surveillance teams tracked the primary suspect’s digital footprint continuously.
122 Call Detail Records (CDRs): Analysts parsed extensive telecom data to pinpoint hidden hideouts.
47 Interrogations: Officers questioned dozens of linked associates to uncover the full scope of the laundering operation.
Fake US Stamps Sold via Deceptive Websites
Investigative findings reveal that Faheem Akram generated millions of dollars by fraudulently selling more than 5 million fake US postage stamps to international and local buyers.
To launder and distribute the illegal proceeds, the suspect utilized 16 separate bank accounts registered under the names of his family members. A formal criminal case has been registered against the culprit, with ongoing inquiries aiming to trace additional accomplices.
"A zero-tolerance policy remains strictly in place against all elements involved in digital fraud and cybercrime," declared Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. He urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious cyber activity or online fraud directly to the official helpline at 1799.
