MARDAN, PAKISTAN — Police have arrested the main suspect in the double murder case that took place at a Gurdwara in Mardan, District Police Officer (DPO) Masood Ahmad announced during a press conference.
According to the DPO, the arrest was made through a professional investigation supported by forensic evidence, technical data, and modern investigative techniques.
The case was registered on the complaint of Amarjeet Lal, son of Jeevan Lal, a resident of Gaju Khan Shaheen Colony No. 2. The victims were identified as Jagannath, son of Hari Ram, and his wife Asawanti, residents of Babu Mohalla, Mardan.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Sher Shah, son of Nader Shah, a resident of Amazo Garhi and currently living in Iran Abad.
Masood Ahmad said that investigations conducted by police and a joint inquiry team, including officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), have so far found no evidence linking the suspect to any banned organisation, terrorist group, or organised network.
During initial interrogation, the suspect shared his personal account of the incident. Police said the statement is being thoroughly examined as part of the ongoing investigation to determine the motive behind the killings.
SP Investigation Maria Mustafa, SP City Hakam Khan, ASP City, and the SHO of Hoti Police Station were also present during the press conference.
