Iran says US military attacks have damaged 111 petrochemical and pharmaceutical facilities across the country, disrupting supply chains and affecting the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Hadi Farajvand, Iran’s representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), said the attacks had affected the country’s chemical industry and created wider concerns over the impact on industrial and pharmaceutical supplies.
Iranian officials said the damaged sites include 60 petrochemical complexes, 44 pharmaceutical factories and seven pharmaceutical facilities.
Tehran has previously raised concerns with the OPCW over attacks on its industrial and chemical facilities. Iranian officials have warned that damage to such sites could increase the risk of hazardous chemical materials being released, potentially affecting public health and the environment.
The claims come as tensions between Iran and the United States remain high, with the conflict continuing to place pressure on Iran’s industrial infrastructure and supply networks.
