LAHORE — Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, conducted an extensive inspection of the Carriage Workshop and Loco Workshop Mughalpura on Friday. During the visit, the minister issued strict directives regarding industrial output, stating that there will be absolutely no compromise on the manufacturing quality and safety standards of railway coaches.
The Minister focused heavily on the technical parameters of the facility's latest projects, conducting a detailed review of specially designed coaches engineered for automobile transportation. Abbasi stressed that both the procurement department and engineering teams must ensure the highest quality compliance for all spare parts entering the assembly pipeline.
Workers Hailed as the Primary Pillar of Pakistan Railways
During his time at the historic facility, the Railways Minister stepped onto the workshop floors to interact directly with the labor force. The workers welcomed the minister enthusiastically, chanting slogans in support of the administration's worker-friendly policies.
"The workers are the most critical component of Pakistan Railways and serve as the foundational backbone of our entire transit network," Abbasi remarked. He reassured the labor unions that the financial and structural fruits of the ongoing railway reforms will directly reach the grassroots workers first.
Green Initiative and Operational Structural Changes
To mark the visit and promote environmental sustainability within public infrastructure, the Minister, alongside the CEO of Pakistan Railways, planted a sapling on the workshop grounds. This gesture aligns with the ministry's broader goal of modernizing the industrial workspace.
Key focus areas highlighted during the high-level meeting at the facility included:
Automobile Logistics: Accelerating the production of freight cars to bolster commercial revenue.
Procurement Oversight: Elimination of low-grade components by enforcing strict spare parts verification.
Labor Welfare: Assuring timely promotions and equitable distribution of institutional benefits to the technical teams.
