LAHORE — Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani declared that the youth represent Pakistan's bright future, emphasizing that education driven by research and innovation is the ultimate key to sustainable development. Speaking as the Chief Guest at the University of Lahore (UOL) graduation ceremony on Sunday, Gilani affirmed that the Senate remains fully committed to funding modern technology, skill development, and creating dignified opportunities for young professionals to excel globally.
The prestigious event was attended by deans, directors, faculty members, proud parents, and a large cohort of graduating students.
Celebrating Academic Excellence and Family Sacrifice
Addressing the energetic crowd, the Chairman Senate extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class and medal recipients. He remarked that convocation day transcends the mere receipt of degrees, serving instead as a celebration of years of hard work, sacrifice, patience, and hope.
"This achievement belongs not only to the students but equally to their families," Gilani stated, paying tribute to the parents who believed education could transform lives, as well as the faculty whose dedication shaped these young minds.

The Chairman expressed immense pride in the fact that Pakistani graduates from disciplines such as nursing and healthcare are increasingly securing international employment, including in nations like Austria. He cited this global footprint as definitive proof that the nation's youth can confidently
compete on the world stage when given proper guidance.
Recalling his legacy as Prime Minister, Gilani highlighted his administration’s pivotal role in launching the 2009 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy. The landmark initiative focused on increasing higher education funding, building campus technology parks, and transforming the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology into a robust multi-campus university system.
Concluding his address, Gilani distributed medals and certificates to high-achieving graduates. To mark the occasion, the Rector of the University of Lahore, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, presented a special souvenir to the Chairman Senate.
