Two women were killed in a suspected honour-related shooting in the Khaki area of Mansehra on Wednesday evening, police said.

A police spokesperson told TWA that the incident took place at around 6:30pm on September 23 within the jurisdiction of Khaki Police Station. Police said a man allegedly opened fire on the two women during a dispute, after which the suspect fled the scene.

According to a copy of the FIR obtained by TWA, police were informed about the shooting and reached the scene, where the victims were found injured. The FIR states that the women were shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (KATH), Mansehra, for medical treatment. It also records the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the allegations made in the case.

Police said the victims succumbed to their injuries and their bodies were taken for medico-legal examination.

The police spokesperson said one of the victims had reportedly been brought home from a Dar-ul-Aman a few days before the incident.

A case has been registered under Sections 302, 114, 311 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, police said.

Police said the suspect remains at large and efforts are under way to trace and arrest him. Investigators are examining the incident from different angles, while further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
