ISLAMABAD A significant diplomatic development has emerged in the context of Pakistan’s foreign and energy policy. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan. During the meeting, both sides discussed Pakistan foreign affairs, diplomatic relations, the Middle East crisis, and the situation in global energy markets.

During the meeting held in Islamabad, the Federal Minister briefed the Ambassador on the current regional situation and stated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz could have serious implications for global energy markets. The Minister further informed that Saudi sources have assured the security of supplies through the Port of Yanbu on the Red Sea, which could help meet Pakistan’s energy requirements. He expressed gratitude and noted that Saudi Arabia is already extending assistance to Pakistan.

He also stated that one vessel has been assured dispatch from Pakistan to Yanbu to lift crude oil. He expressed hope that oil supplies from Yanbu Port would be prioritized for Pakistan.

Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki stated that the Kingdom is fully aware of the evolving situation and reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia will stand firmly with Pakistan to meet any emergency requirements. He stressed that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are brotherly countries and will continue to support each other, especially in testing times.
