Pakistan and Denmark convened the fifth round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) in Copenhagen on September 23, 2026. The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Ayesha Ali, while the Danish side was headed by State Secretary for Trade and Investment Ambassador Susanne Hyldelund.

Both nations undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment to expanding partnership across trade, green transition, energy, consular affairs, and key global issues.

Deepening Trade, Investment, and Green Energy Collaboration

During the consultations, both delegations placed particular emphasis on strengthening economic engagement and driving Danish private-sector investments into Pakistan. Key target sectors identified for joint venture and business-to-business opportunities include:

• Renewable Energy & Green Transition: Leveraging Denmark’s expertise under the Green Framework Engagement Agreement.

• Infrastructure & Port Facilities: Upgrading logistics, maritime trade, and transport infrastructure.

• Emerging Industries: Expanding cooperation in Information Technology (IT), mining and minerals, sustainable manufacturing, and fisheries.

Pakistan also commended Denmark's ongoing development support, including strategic sector cooperation on critical environmental projects such as the Faisalabad Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Enhancing People-to-People Links and UN Security Council Synergy

To bolster cultural and economic exchanges, the representatives discussed facilitating smoother visa procedures for business professionals and exploring options to establish direct flight connectivity between the two countries.

On global governance, both sides reviewed their multilateral coordination as concurrent members serving on the UN Security Council for the 2025–2026 term. The talks concluded with an agreement to hold the sixth round of consultations in Islamabad on mutually agreed dates.
