Pakistan-Turkiye Agrees on Strengthening Bilateral Collaboration in Disaster Management

The Pakistan-Turkiye International Simulation Exercise (Sim-Ex), a pioneering event, was successfully conducted online. This joint exercise, organized by Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), focused on preparing for and responding to floods and earthquakes.

 

This first-of-its-kind exercise aimed to bolster collaboration between the two nations, enhancing their ability to manage and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters. Participants engaged in various scenarios, addressing the challenges and strategies involved in dealing with severe floods and devastating earthquakes.

 

Chairman of NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation during disasters. He emphasized the need for preparedness and a proactive approach to disaster management, highlighting that such collaborative exercises are crucial for effective response and resilience building.

The Head of Department Response Plans and Exercise, Yusuf AYSU at AFAD expressed gratitude to NDMA for organizing the simulation exercise. He noted that the event provided valuable insights and strengthened the partnership between Pakistan and Turkey in disaster management.

 

The successful completion of this simulation exercise marks a significant step forward in the international collaboration between Pakistan and Turkey, ensuring both countries are better equipped to handle future natural disasters.
