Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the Chinese Ambassador, Jiang Zaidong, at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad today. During the meeting, the interior minister discussed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China and praised the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support of Pakistan.
Both sides exchanged views on strengthening Pak-China bilateral ties and discussed measures for ensuring the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan. Federal Interior Minister Naqvi briefed the Chinese Ambassador on the comprehensive security plans for Chinese engineers and staff working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects.
The Chinese ambassador expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements. Minister Naqvi highlighted that comprehensive and effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being devised to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals. Additionally, he announced the creation of a Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Islamabad dedicated to the protection of foreign nationals.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that the protection of Chinese workers contributing to Pakistan’s construction and development is a top priority for the government. He reiterated that the eternal friendship between Pakistan and China remains unshakable, and any attempts to undermine this relationship will not be tolerated.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed that Pakistan and China are all-weather friends and emphasized the importance China places on its bilateral ties with Pakistan. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further enhance security cooperation and strengthen the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
