Stetson Sanders Appointed as U.S. Consul General in Lahore

Stetson Sanders has assumed office as the 35th U.S. Consul General in Lahore. This marks his third diplomatic assignment related to Pakistan. Previously, he served in the Management Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad from 2019 to 2021 and worked in Washington, D.C., overseeing strategic management affairs concerning Pakistan and Central Asian countries.

His other notable diplomatic postings include serving as Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in Juba, South Sudan; Senior Civilian Representative at the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ghazni, Afghanistan; and assignments in Tajikistan, India, and Spain.

Before joining the U.S. State Department, Sanders served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Russia and worked as Executive Director of the International Intellectual Property Institute in Washington, D.C.

Originally from California, he holds degrees from Bradley University and Johns Hopkins University. He is fluent in Russian, Italian, Spanish, Tajiki, and Dari, and has a deep passion for music.
