Islamabad (FIA Spokesperson) – Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Riffat Mukhtar, held a meeting with Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmad, to strengthen institutional cooperation against illegal Money and Value Transfer Services (MVTS), including hawala and hundi operations.
During the meeting, both sides discussed strategies to combat money laundering and unauthorized financial networks that pose risks to the national economy and financial system. They agreed to enhance coordination, intelligence sharing, and oversight mechanisms to effectively dismantle illegal money transfer operations.
DG FIA emphasized that the outflow of illicit funds is not only a financial crime but also a national security concern. He underscored the importance of a unified approach between law enforcement and financial regulatory institutions.
Governor Jameel Ahmad appreciated FIA’s ongoing efforts in curbing financial crimes and assured full support from the State Bank to ensure robust action against hawala/hundi operators and other unauthorized MVTS networks.
