LAHORE – The Government of Punjab and the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) have finalized comprehensive security and hospitality arrangements for the upcoming Vaisakhi Mela and the 327th Khalsa Janam Din celebrations. During a high-level review meeting held at the Punjab Home Department on April 7, 2026, officials confirmed that foolproof measures are in place to welcome thousands of Sikh pilgrims arriving from India and across the globe.
The meeting was chaired by Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, with Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, participating via video link. Minister Rafique emphasized that the safety of international visitors remains the state's top priority, issuing strict directives to district administrations to ensure seamless coordination.
ETPB Completes Hospitality Infrastructure
Additional Secretary Shrines (ETPB), Nasir Mushtaq, briefed the committee on the extensive facilities prepared for the yatris. The board has upgraded residential accommodations to ensure a comfortable stay for all visitors. Key facilities include:
High-quality marquees and premium bedding.
Installation of air conditioners and clean drinking water filtration units.
Modernized washroom facilities at all major Gurdwaras.
Strict Security Protocols for Vaisakhi Mela
To ensure a peaceful pilgrimage, law enforcement agencies have completed intelligence-based operations along all travel routes and surrounding religious sites. CCTV surveillance systems and temporary security cameras are currently being installed to provide 24/7 monitoring of the festivities.
Administrative officers have established dedicated WhatsApp coordination groups to facilitate real-time communication between the ETPB, security forces, and district management.
Event Schedule and Route
Sikh pilgrims from India are scheduled to enter Pakistan through the Wagah Border on April 10. The focal point of the celebrations, the main Vaisakhi ceremony, will take place at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasan Abdal, on April 14. Following the main event, pilgrims will visit various holy sites across the country before their departure.
