ISLAMABAD – The German Embassy in Islamabad, in partnership with the Marriott Hotel, hosted an exclusive screening of the international documentary INTERTANGO on May 14, 2026. The event, featuring German filmmaker Hanne Weyh, aimed to showcase the power of dance in transcending borders and connecting diverse global communities, including those in Pakistan.
The evening commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Jan Gerald Krausser, Head of Communications and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy. Following the film, guests participated in a vibrant Q&A session with Ms. Weyh and an introductory Tango lesson, which transformed the venue into a lively open dance floor for enthusiasts and beginners alike.
A Bridge Between Berlin and Karachi
German Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Ina Lepel, emphasized that the event was a testament to the strength of intercultural exchange. She noted that while Tango is not traditionally associated with Germany or Pakistan, the film proves that the dance’s emotional resonance is universal.
“INTERTANGO demonstrates in an impressive way how this beautiful dance and the emotions which come with it connect humans from Berlin to Karachi and from Buenos Aires to Milan,” stated Ambassador Lepel.
