In celebration of World Bicycle Day, the Turkmenistan Embassy and Serena Hotels joined forces to organize a dynamic cycling event, promoting a healthy, eco-friendly lifestyle under the Sports Diplomacy initiative. The event, held in Islamabad, underscored a shared commitment to fostering active living and environmental sustainability.
Participants congregated at D-Chowk, greeted by a vibrant atmosphere pulsating with enthusiasm and solidarity. Against the backdrop of Islamabad’s scenic beauty, attendees engaged in a healthy activity, experiencing the city’s charm while pedaling towards wellness.
The Additional Foreign Secretary (Afghanistan Iran & West Asia), Ahmed Naseem Warraich graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he underscored the pivotal role of cycling in cultivating a healthier lifestyle, advocating for reduced reliance on fossil fuels, and mitigating noise pollution through minimized road traffic. He encouraged a transition towards sustainable transportation choices and advocated for additional events to champion cycling as an efficient means of travel.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atadjan Movlamov in expressed his delight, stating, “We are thrilled to celebrate World Bicycle Day with this remarkable event. Cycling not only fosters fitness but also contributes to a cleaner, greener environment. We hope this event inspires more individuals to embrace cycling as a daily pursuit.”
The World Bicycle Day initiative exemplifies Serena Hotels’ dedication to promoting eco-tourism and adventure sports, encouraging responsible tourism practices that benefit local economies and ecosystems.
The World Bicycle Day 2024 event was witnessed by youngsters, adults, and people from all walks of society, including a large number of the diplomatic community, notably Ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Zimbabwe, Malaysia and Kyrgyzstan.
