OPF and NADRA Coordinate to Boost Service Delivery for Diaspora
ISLAMABAD:- Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), met with Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar, Chairman of NADRA, at the OPF Head Office in Islamabad this week to streamline document issuance for the global Pakistani community. The high-level session focused on resolving bureaucratic delays and enhancing digital service delivery for citizens living abroad.
The meeting included Mr. Mohammed Afzaal Bhatti, Managing Director of OPF, and senior officials from both organizations. This collaboration marks a significant step in the government's effort to integrate NADRA services more deeply with overseas welfare initiatives.
Focus on Tokyo: Proposed NADRA Facilitation Desk
During the discussions, Syed Qamar Raza highlighted specific grievances shared by the Pakistani community during his recent official visits to Japan and South Korea. He emphasized that the absence of dedicated NADRA personnel in Tokyo has created significant hurdles for residents requiring identity documentation.
To address these challenges, the OPF Chairman formally requested the establishment of a NADRA facilitation desk at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo. This move is expected to drastically reduce processing times for the thousands of Pakistanis residing in the region.
Commitment to Collaborative Resolutions
Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar assured the delegation that the proposal for the Tokyo desk would be treated as a priority matter. He reaffirmed NADRA's commitment to leveraging technology to make document renewal and issuance seamless for the diaspora.
Key Goals of the Partnership:
Swift Issuance: Reducing the turnaround time for NICOP and other essential identity documents.
Enhanced Accessibility: Increasing the footprint of NADRA counters in foreign missions.
Integrated Support: Direct coordination between OPF and NADRA to resolve individual complaints.
Syed Qamar Raza expressed his gratitude to the NADRA Chairman for his proactive approach. Both agencies have pledged to maintain a continuous dialogue to ensure that the overseas Pakistani community receives efficient support regardless of their geographic location.
