ISLAMABAD — The Smurfs staged a commanding 6-3 comeback victory against Islamabad City in a high-stakes final fixture at the Jinnah Futsal Courts on Saturday, securing the prestigious SHE League Seniors championship title.
The decisive clash between the two top-ranked teams concluded an intense tournament run, while Islamabad City earlier sealed a dominant sweep in the SHE League Juniors category with a 6-1 victory over the Smurfs.
Smurfs Mount Brilliant Comeback in Seniors Final
Entering the final round with identical undefeated records, Islamabad City drew first blood when Maryam opened the scoring with a clever dinked finish. However, the Smurfs responded with a
relentless offensive strategy to take control before halftime:
Equalizer: Tournament Best Player Asra restored parity with a sharp finish.
Lead Goal: Fatimah capitalized on momentum to push the Smurfs ahead 2-1.
Breakaway: Louiza dispossessed the defense and struck powerfully to make it 3-1 before the break.
The Smurfs extended their dominance early in the second half. Asra bagged her second goal following a fluid one-two combination with Warisha, while Hajra struck twice from close range to push the lead to 6-1. Late consolation goals from Maryam and Alina were not enough to spark an Islamabad City recovery.
