Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was targeted in an attack attributed to Yemen’s Houthi group, according to a spokesperson for the kingdom’s civil aviation authorities.
The reported attack took place on Sunday, with authorities assessing the extent of the damage at the airport, the spokesperson said.
The incident followed an earlier reported attack on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, where several people were injured, according to the aviation authorities. Officials said they were assessing the damage and taking measures to ensure the airport’s safety.
Saudi Civil Defence said the previous day’s attack had killed 12 people and injured more than 300. The reported fatalities included four Saudi nationals and two Bangladeshi citizens, alongside one citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
Authorities have not yet provided further details about the reported incident in Dammam or confirmed the full extent of the damage.
