In a statement issued on March 4, 2026, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed concern over the ongoing fighting along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.

“We are concerned about the ongoing fighting along the Afghan-Pakistani border. In recent days, there have been reports of armed clashes across almost the entire border area inhabited by Pashtun tribes, involving aircraft and heavy weapons,” she said.

Zakharova added that the escalation has resulted in casualties on both sides, while civilians are facing serious hardships.

According to her, those affected also include Afghan refugees who have returned to Afghanistan from neighboring Pakistan and Iran.

The Russian Foreign Ministry further stated:
“We once again call on Kabul and Islamabad to refrain from military confrontation and resolve their differences through dialogue based on mutual respect.”

The statement indicates that the international community and global diplomatic circles are closely monitoring the rising tensions in the region.
