PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN — Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi formally inaugurated the Shandur Polo Festival 2026, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated cultural and sporting events. Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Jan and Provincial Adviser for Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal were also present on the occasion.

Held at the world’s highest polo ground, the historic festival marks an important milestone in promoting Pakistan’s culture, sports, and tourism. The Shandur Polo Festival not only preserves the rich tradition of freestyle polo but also serves as a major attraction for tourists from across the country and abroad.

In the opening match of the festival, Laspur (Chitral) delivered an impressive performance, defeating Ghizer (Gilgit-Baltistan) by 9 goals to nil. Spectators enthusiastically applauded the players for their outstanding display of skill and sportsmanship throughout the match.
