PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN – The process of repatriating Afghan nationals residing illegally in various cities across Pakistan remains underway, as another significant group left the country on December 15, according to official data.

A total of 1,854 Afghans, consisting of 523 men, 394 women, and 926 children, were repatriated on this particular day. The repatriation effort involved 235 families, who were transported back to Afghanistan using 114 vehicles.

It’s noteworthy that well before the official announcement by Pakistan, a substantial number of undocumented Afghans had been voluntarily returning to Afghanistan, driven by concerns about potential arrest.

Despite this, official data indicates that on December 14 alone, a staggering total of 431,431 Afghans returned to their homeland. This ongoing repatriation underscores the complexity and scale of the situation, highlighting efforts to manage and address the presence of undocumented Afghan residents in Pakistan.
