In a high-level diplomatic exchange, Romanian officials and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a pivotal call to discuss the aftermath of the Islamabad Talks and regional security in the Middle East. The dialogue focused on the successful implementation of a recent ceasefire and the urgent shared priority of restoring stability to the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan’s Mediation Role Recognized
Romania expressed formal gratitude for Pakistan’s sustained mediation efforts, which were conducted alongside key regional partners. These diplomatic interventions are credited with securing a ceasefire agreement that successfully prevented further military escalation across the Middle East.
Both nations emphasized that the current priority is a return to long-term security. The leaders agreed that maintaining the momentum of the Islamabad Talks is essential for preventing future conflict and ensuring that de-escalation remains permanent.
Reopening the Strait of Hormuz
A central point of the discussion was the necessity of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to unhindered naval traffic. As a vital artery for global energy and trade, the restoration of safe passage in the Strait is now a shared priority for both Islamabad and Bucharest.
Romania has signaled its full readiness to support ongoing de-escalation efforts. The country plans to continue close coordination with both regional and international partners to ensure maritime routes remain open and secure.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
Beyond regional security, the two ministers committed to expanding the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Romania. They agreed to maintain an active dialogue aimed at developing cooperation across various sectors, including trade and diplomatic coordination.
