ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN — H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President of the International Islamic University, has persistently worked to steer the university out of its financial challenges. His efforts bore fruit as he secured additional assistance from Saudi Arabia, ensuring salaries for IIUI employees for December.
Details reveal that Saudi Arabia provided a “Support for Payment of Salary” amounting to 818 Million PKR for the IIUI, covering the fiscal year 2022-23, payment of arrears, allowances, and December 2023 salaries, which totals 300 Million PKR. Additionally, a “Support for University Development Projects” amounts to 86 Million PKR.
Since taking office in 2020, H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud has implemented reforms aligning with the university’s strategic plan, enabling the institution to manage its financial commitments and developmental projects with Saudi support. Furthermore, the Saudi government has approved the construction of a grand mosque, estimated at $32 million, on the university’s new campus. Dr. Hathal reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the university’s financial challenges while emphasizing the preservation of academic excellence.
Dr. Samina Malik, IIUI Rector, expressed gratitude to the Saudi Government for its unwavering support. She highlighted the university’s role as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations and acknowledged the consistent generosity of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques towards IIUI. Dr. Malik conveyed the IIUI community’s collective appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its invaluable financial assistance.
