In a joint effort, the Embassies of the Weimar Triangle countries (Poland, Germany, France) and Ukraine orchestrated a significant commemorative event in Islamabad dedicated to expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The event, hosted at the grounds of Poland’s Embassy, marked the second anniversary of the unprovoked full-scale invasion by Russia against Ukraine.

The ceremony included the screening of the documentary *“Culture vs. War”* and an exhibition titled *“Generations of War,”* showcasing poignant works created by Ukrainian artists. Ambassadors Maciej Pisarski (Poland), Markiian Chuchuk (Ukraine), Nicolas Galey (France), and Alfred Grannas (Germany) addressed the participants, emphasizing the bravery of the Ukrainian people in resisting the Russian invaders over the two-year conflict.

The ambassadors highlighted the sacrifices made by Ukraine’s Armed Forces, the devastation of infrastructure, and the plight of Ukrainians, including children. Ambassador Grannas stated that Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine challenges the rules-based international order and its core elements, demanding a unified response from the global community.

Ambassador Pisarski stressed the importance of sustaining support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, countering Russia’s strategy to wear down defenders and those assisting them. He emphasized that supporting Ukraine is an investment in the security of not only Ukraine but also Europe and the world.

Ambassador Galey reassured the global commitment, dispelling any notion of “Ukraine fatigue.” He emphasized the unity of all nations supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the aggression.

Ambassador Chuchuk highlighted Ukraine’s resilience against a nuclear-armed power, emphasizing President Zelenskyy’s Ten-point Peace Formula as a viable path to peace. He urged for international cooperation aligned with Pakistan’s commitment to upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity. This plan includes provisions for the cessation of hostilities, ensuring food security, nuclear safety, energy security, justice, human rights, and adherence to the UN Charter. Ambassador Chuchuk emphasized that this proposal stands as the sole viable option for achieving peace.

Ambassador Chuchuk noted that the repercussions of the war extend far beyond Ukraine’s borders, being experienced by countries worldwide, including Pakistan. Recognizing Pakistan’s influential voice on the global stage, Ambassador Chuchuk urged for collective participation in peaceful efforts that align with Pakistan’s commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The solidarity event, witnessed by diplomats, representatives, experts, activists, and journalists, concluded with a call for steadfast determination and international cooperation for peace, not only in Ukraine but worldwide.
