The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), in collaboration with the Korean Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA), will establish a ‘Seed Potato Complex’ to produce virus-free potatoes and enhance local crop output.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain recently engaged with a delegation from the Korea Program on International Agriculture to discuss the enhancement of agricultural production and the promotion of development through bilateral cooperation.
The delegation, headed by Ambassador Park Kijun of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, underscored the ongoing agricultural collaboration between the two nations. He pointed out that Korea is assisting Pakistan in the transfer of agricultural technology and providing training for the application of modern techniques.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain remarked on the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea, highlighting their joint efforts in agricultural technology transfer projects.
An inauguration event for the Seed Potato Complex at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council is planned for Wednesday. This initiative is expected to improve seed quality significantly. The bilateral cooperation is seen as a crucial step in boosting agricultural production and advancing development in the country.
The Federal Minister also noted that the project will enable advanced research on potato seed production using aeroponics. This initiative will support the transfer of Korea’s modern aeroponic systems to Pakistan, addressing food security issues and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
