61 Years of Freedom: Kenyan High Commissioner Reflects on Peace and Growth During Independence Day Celebration

The 61st National Jamhuri Day of Kenya was commemorated with great enthusiasm in Islamabad. The event began with the playing of the national anthems of both Kenya and the host country Pakistan, symbolizing mutual respect and friendship.

 

The Kenyan High Commissioner, during his remarks, said: As we commemorate Kenya’s 61st Independence Day, we honor the remarkable contributions of the distinguished Kenyans who sacrificed themselves to liberate our nation. We also recognize all Kenyans and friends who have steadfastly played an instrumental role in shaping our country’s growth to this day.

Over the past 61 years of independence, Kenya has embarked on a journey of nation-building, focusing on fostering a peaceful, stable, and unified society that contributes positively to humanity’s well-being. We have prioritized progress across all spheres of social, political, and economic development. This commitment is reflected in our sustained economic growth, averaging 5.6% over the years. Current projections indicate that Kenya will continue this positive growth trajectory through 2025.”

 

Kenya is an active player in regional and international affairs. A member of the East African Community (EAC), the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN). Kenya has continued to engage in regional and global peace and security, humanitarian interventions, and pandemic responses, he further added.

 

There is great potential in all spheres of bilateral and Kenya is committed to deepening the relationship with Pakistan. Both nations have over the years collaborated across multiple sectors, including trade, security, defense, and education. Our joint initiatives in these areas have strengthened our unity and common objectives and cultivated goodwill and collaboration. We are exploring other areas to unlock the great potential and deepen the collaboration.

Chief Guest Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Thursday extended heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Kenya on Kenyan National Day. While addressing the Kenya National Day event, he said that Kenya’s struggle for independence reminds Pakistan of its own national history. “Kenya’s journey to independence and nation-building is commendable,” Rana Tanveer remarked.

 

Rana Tanveer Hussain said that relations between the two countries have expanded beyond the government level to people-to-people ties. He emphasized that Pakistan and Kenya are committed to strengthening their bilateral relations based on mutual respect, dignity, and cooperation.

 

Minister Tanveer also highlighted the growing trade and cultural ties between the two nations, as well as the vast opportunities for cooperation in areas such as agricultural technology and educational partnerships.

On this occasion, a commemorative cake was cut by Ambassador Lt. General (Rtd) Peter Mbogo Njiru, the Kenyan High Commissioner, along with the Chief Guests Rana Tanveer and the Ambassadors of Yemen and Morocco, to mark the event.
