Vietnamese Embassy celebrates Lunar New Year in Islamabad, fostering unity and cultural ties

The Ambassador of Viet Nam to Pakistan, Pham Anh Tuan, expressed optimism for the year 2025, foreseeing significant advancements in the relations between Viet Nam and Pakistan. Addressing the celebration of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet) at the Viet Nam Embassy in Islamabad, he highlighted the strong bonds between the two nations and the vibrant Vietnamese community in Pakistan.

 

 

“The Viet Nam Embassy in Pakistan will continue to serve as a common home and a solid bridge, fostering cohesion and development within the Vietnamese community in Pakistan,” said Ambassador Tuan.

 

Reflecting on Viet Nam’s progress in 2024, the Ambassador emphasized the country’s remarkable achievements, including:

 

– A record 7.09% economic growth rate, the – – highest in 15 years.
– $800 billion in import-export turnover, marking an all-time high.
– Viet Nam’s standing among the top 15 countries globally attracting the most foreign direct investment (FDI), with nearly $40 billion secured.
– An influx of nearly 18 million international tourists, reflecting a 39.5% increase compared to 2023.

 

Ambassador Tuan highlighted the strengthening bilateral trade ties, noting a 21% increase in two-way trade between Viet Nam and Pakistan in 2024, reaching over $800 million. He recalled the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in October 2024, where both leaders affirmed their commitment to elevating bilateral trade to over $1 billion.

 

Looking ahead to 2025, Ambassador Tuan announced plans for activities promoting political, economic, and cultural cooperation, aiming to strengthen the ties between the two nations.

 

 

He also lauded the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Pakistan and encouraged their active participation in fostering relations between Viet Nam and Pakistan. “Let us unite to build our community, preserve the beautiful image of Vietnamese culture, and support efforts to protect our homeland,” he said.

 

 

Concluding his address, Ambassador Tuan extended heartfelt New Year wishes: “I wish the Vietnamese community in Pakistan continued expansion and development, and our beloved homeland, Viet Nam, increasing prosperity and lasting peace.”
