ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Human Rights hosted a courtesy call today by H.E. Pham Anh Tuan, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Pakistan. He met with Ms. Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights and Convener of the Pakistan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group. The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Truong Van Thang, First Secretary at the Vietnamese Embassy in Islamabad.

The Ministry welcomed the establishment of the Vietnam–Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group as a vital step toward enhancing bilateral ties through inter-parliamentary cooperation. Ms. Sadiq noted that the Group includes members from major political parties including PML-N and PPP, reflecting Pakistan’s bipartisan approach to diplomacy and regional engagement.

Highlighting the Group’s strategic importance, she emphasized its role in promoting collaboration in key areas such as human rights, education, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. The platform also aims to foster legislative dialogue and best practices to support inclusive governance and democratic development.

As a prominent member of ASEAN, Vietnam provides a strategic gateway for Pakistan to bolster its diplomatic and economic presence in Southeast Asia. Ms. Sadiq reaffirmed that strengthening ties with ASEAN countries aligns with Pakistan’s broader vision of regional integration, connectivity, and soft diplomacy.

The meeting also included discussions on Pakistan’s current economic priorities under Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with a focus on fostering international partnerships to achieve sustainable growth and regional stability.

“This Friendship Group is not just symbolic—it is a bridge of cooperation between our peoples and parliaments,” Ms. Saba Sadiq stated. “Through it, we seek to deepen mutual trust and expand our engagement with Vietnam and the broader ASEAN region.”

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual goodwill and a shared commitment to ongoing dialogue and partnership for sustainable development
