Moscow: Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, at the behest of the United Russia Party, embarked on a significant diplomatic journey to Moscow, marking a pivotal moment in Pakistan-Russia relations. His participation in the Constituent Meeting of the Forum of Supporters of the Struggle Against Modern Neocolonialism Practices for the Freedom of Nations underscored his commitment to international collaboration.

A notable highlight of the visit was Senator MHS’s role as a distinguished panelist at the Forum, where he engaged in a substantive tête-à-tête with Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Global Forum Against NeoColonialism and for Freedom of Nations—formerly the President of the Russian Federation.

Addressing the Russian Diplomatic Academy, Senator Hussain delivered an insightful lecture on “Pakistan and the Changing Regional Scenario,” emphasizing the burgeoning ties between Pakistan and Russia in energy, connectivity, regional security (particularly in Afghanistan), and collaboration within multilateral fora such as the SCO and UN. The Senator commended President Putin’s stance on Islamophobia, fostering mutual understanding.

The lecture was followed by an interactive question and answer session with students of the Diplomatic Academy, graced by the presence of Senator Chizhov of the Russian Federation Council.

Post-lecture, Senator MHS engaged in a strategic meeting with the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy, fostering a constructive exchange of views on emerging global political trends and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. The discussions revealed a significant congruence of opinions on various matters of mutual interest.
