Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for Afghanistan’s interim government, announced that Saudi Arabia is eager to reopen its embassy in Kabul in the near future. He made this statement ahead of the Doha summit, highlighting improved dialogue during meetings with Saudi representatives.

Mujahid emphasized that Saudi Arabia expressed a strong interest in fostering positive relations with Afghanistan. He underscored Afghanistan’s view of Saudi Arabia as a crucial partner. Notably, Saudi Arabia closed its embassy in Kabul in February of the previous year citing security concerns.

During the summit in Doha, the Afghan delegation engaged in discussions with special envoys from Pakistan, India, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan. Mujahid, in his opening remarks, advocated for the lifting of sanctions as a vital step towards resolving Afghanistan’s economic challenges.
