Russian Ambassador Khorev and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif Forge Path to Stronger Relations

The Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, representing the Russian Federation, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today. The meeting encompassed discussions on various avenues of bilateral cooperation and mutual solidarity.

 

Prime Minister Sharif extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Pakistan for the tragic loss of lives in the recent Crocus City Hall attack near Moscow. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support and solidarity with Russia during this challenging time.

 

Expressing gratitude, the Prime Minister acknowledged President Vladimir Putin’s congratulatory message on his re-election. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening historical ties and fostering greater collaboration with Russia, particularly in the realms of energy, trade, and investment.

 

Highlighting the significance of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), Prime Minister Sharif advocated for the prompt convening of its 9th session, slated to be hosted by Russia later this year. He emphasized the necessity for constructive dialogue to enhance bilateral trade and investment.

 

Revisiting the fruitful interaction during the SCO Summit in Samarkand in 2022, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his invitation to President Putin for an official visit to Pakistan, underscoring the importance of high-level engagements in furthering bilateral relations.

 

Ambassador Khorev affirmed Russia’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Pakistan, echoing interests in deepening cooperation beyond energy, trade, and investment to encompass education and culture. Both nations, active participants in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reaffirmed their commitment to regional collaboration.
