Moscow/Islamabad — On August 22, Russia marked its National Flag Day, honoring the country’s official state symbol that represents its sovereignty, independence, and the unity of its diverse population through generations.

The history of the Russian tricolor flag spans over three centuries, tracing back to the era of Peter the Great, who is credited as its creator. In 1705, he issued a decree mandating that the white, blue, and red flag be hoisted on all sea trading vessels. Today, the national flag is a rectangular banner with three equal horizontal stripes: white at the top, blue in the center, and red at the bottom.

🇵🇰 As a vibrant symbol of Russia-Pakistan friendship, the iconic Pakistan Monument in Islamabad was illuminated in the colors of the Russian flag. The striking display highlighted the growing warmth and mutual respect between the two nations.

This annual observance not only celebrates Russia’s cultural and historical heritage but also reflects its diplomatic outreach, as partners and allies worldwide join in recognizing the country’s national pride.
