Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, for a constructive dialogue on enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperation between the two nations.

 

During the courtesy call, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude to President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi for his warm congratulatory message and telephone call following the prime minister’s re-election. Emphasizing the longstanding and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, Prime Minister Sharif recalled the significant milestones achieved during his meeting with President Raisi, including the joint inauguration of a border market and an electricity transmission line in May 2023.

 

Acknowledging the pivotal role of Iran in regional affairs, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade, energy cooperation, and connectivity through enhanced road and rail networks. He also highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges, counterterrorism efforts, and security cooperation between the two nations.

 

Prime Minister Sharif commended Iran’s steadfast support on issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir and engaged in a constructive discourse on the situation in Palestine.

 

In response, Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed appreciation for the prime minister’s hospitality and provided an overview of the current status of bilateral relations. He reaffirmed Iran’s eagerness to bolster cooperation with Pakistan across all areas of mutual interest.

 

The meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam underscores the commitment of both nations to fostering enduring ties and advancing shared goals for regional prosperity and stability.
