In a momentous address before the Turkish Parliament, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas outlined a bold and determined course of action for the Palestinian leadership and called for greater international support in the face of ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people.
President Abbas declared his intention to lead the entire Palestinian leadership to the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the significance of this step in the ongoing struggle for Palestinian liberation. “I have decided to go with all members of the Palestinian leadership to the Gaza Strip,” President Abbas announced, reinforcing the unity and resolve of the Palestinian leadership in confronting the challenges ahead.
Addressing the international community, President Abbas appealed to the United Nations Security Council to ensure the safe passage of the Palestinian leadership to Gaza. “I call on the Security Council to secure our access to the Gaza Strip,” he stated, urging the global body to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people.
The President’s speech was marked by a resolute commitment to the Palestinian cause, as he declared, “Either victory or martyrdom.” This powerful statement underscores the determination of the Palestinian leadership and people to achieve their rightful goals, no matter the cost.
President Abbas also outlined his next steps, pledging to visit Al-Quds Al-Sharif after Gaza, further emphasizing his dedication to the liberation of all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
In a scathing critique of U.S. foreign policy, President Abbas condemned the United States for its continued use of veto power in the United Nations Security Council, particularly against a ceasefire in Gaza. “America is the plague, and the plague is America,” he stated, highlighting the detrimental role the U.S. has played in obstructing peace efforts. He pointed out that while the Security Council has passed 80 resolutions on the Palestinian issue, none have been implemented due to American intervention.
The Palestinian President also directed strong criticism at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of spreading falsehoods in the U.S. Congress. “Netanyahu opened a door to lies in Congress that has no other,” Abbas remarked, calling attention to the misinformation that has hindered the peace process.
President Abbas noted the growing disillusionment within the American Jewish community, with 40% of Jews in the U.S. reportedly viewing Israel as a criminal state. This statistic, he argued, reflects a shifting perspective on Israel’s policies and actions.
In his concluding remarks, President Abbas emphasized the vital importance of Palestinian unity. “National unity is the shortest path to achieving victory over this enemy that lurks among us and targets us all,” he declared. He reiterated that unity under the banner of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, is the key to achieving independence and safeguarding the future of Palestine.
