Islamabad: Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, met with Ms. Joe Moir, Development Director at the British High Commission in Islamabad, to explore opportunities for enhanced energy cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Petroleum, centered on deepening collaboration in the oil, gas, and broader energy sectors. Both parties emphasized the need for sustainable energy development, technological innovation, and the UK’s role in supporting Pakistan’s energy infrastructure.

Minister Malik reiterated the government’s commitment to improving energy efficiency and security, highlighting the value of British expertise. “Pakistan cherishes its strong ties with the UK and is eager to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector to achieve sustainable development and shared economic progress,” he stated. He also noted Pakistan’s drive to modernize its liquid fuels sector in alignment with sustainability goals.

Ms. Joe Moir expressed the UK’s continued commitment to supporting Pakistan’s energy transition and capacity development. “The UK is eager to partner with Pakistan in tackling energy challenges through innovation and investment. Our goal is to back initiatives that promote economic resilience and build local capacity,” she said.

The meeting also covered discussions on policy enhancement, regulatory reforms, and potential joint ventures. Both sides agreed to maintain close communication to foster future partnerships.
