The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the decision of the Parliament of the Republic of San Marino to adopt diplomatic representation for the State of Palestine as a fundamental step towards moving towards recognizing the State of Palestine.
The Parliament stressed in its decision the need to continue support within the framework of the United Nations to recognize the State of Palestine as a full member state in the United Nations General Assembly, and the need to stop the war of extermination that the Palestinian people are being subjected to in the Gaza Strip and to continue supporting and activating humanitarian corridors.
The Ministry appreciates this courageous step and important historic decision, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that our people are facing, which expresses San Marino’s steadfast commitment to the two-state solution based on ending the occupation and achieving long-awaited justice for the Palestinian people.
In this regard, the Ministry again calls on all countries, especially European countries, that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to move forward with recognition as a step towards ending the historical injustice that the Palestinian people have been subjected to for decades of occupation, and to recognize their inalienable rights and aspirations to self-determination in their independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
