Dr. Ali Imran, a leading Pakistani researcher at Zhejiang University’s Hangzhou Global Innovation and Technology Center, has achieved a breakthrough in optoelectronic devices. His team successfully created a gateless image sensor, exhibiting remarkable performance with 10 times more responsivity than existing alternatives.

 

Dr. Imran emphasized its capacity to capture clear images in low-light conditions, even in far-infrared regions, making it versatile for applications ranging from ultraviolet imaging in autonomous vehicles to innovative medical devices.

 

Expressing gratitude for the support received, Dr. Imran highlighted the advantages of conducting research in China, emphasizing the country’s leadership in publishing papers, funding research, and providing scholarships. The research team aims to enhance pixel count and scale up the technology, exploring practical applications through collaborations with companies.

 

Imran urged Pakistani universities to align research goals with real-world problems and advocated for increased collaboration between Chinese and Pakistani institutions to stimulate innovation and economic growth in Pakistan.
