The Pakistan – South Africa Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) held its inaugural meeting in the Parliament House, Islamabad.
The briefing was attended by MNAs, Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Shagufta Jumani, Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, Ms. Mussarat Rafiq Mahesar, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Asad Alam Niazi, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Farah Naz Akbar, and chaired by Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA / Convener of the Pakistan – South Africa PFG.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided an update on the current state of relations between Pakistan and South Africa. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce shared key developments in bilateral trade, ongoing initiatives, and the future outlook for economic cooperation. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a detailed briefing on South Africa’s position in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning the Gaza issue.
Mxolisi Phila Radebe, Acting High Commissioner of South Africa in Islamabad, also engaged with the members of the PFG.
The meeting served as a platform to explore ways of enhancing bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, expanding business, investment opportunities, and fostering cooperation in diverse areas. Its primary objective was to further strengthen economic ties, promote parliamentary exchanges, and build stronger people-to-people connections between Pakistan and South Africa.
