Islamabad, 27 February 2025: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of business, infrastructure development, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
This was the focus of a meeting held today between President Asif Ali Zardari and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, who is also the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, First Lady and MNA Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, as well as senior government officials.
In his welcome remarks, the President highlighted the long-standing people-to-people and cultural ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which have spanned over three generations. He emphasized the importance of passing on this legacy to future generations in order to further strengthen the historical relationship between the two countries.
President Zardari also commended the remarkable progress made by the UAE under its dynamic leadership. He expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for the unwavering support extended by the UAE and their cooperation in various sectors. The President underlined the need to foster closer economic and trade relations and invited UAE investors to explore new opportunities in Pakistan’s emerging sectors.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed reiterated the UAE’s commitment to enhancing its cooperation with Pakistan. He remarked that the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during his visit were a testament to the trust and enduring relationship between the two nations.
Later, President Zardari awarded the Nishan-i-Pakistan to Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in recognition of his exceptional services and unwavering support to Pakistan. The special investiture ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Sheikh Khaled has played a pivotal role in promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE, and strengthening the long-standing fraternal ties between the two countries.
His leadership has facilitated significant investment initiatives aimed at boosting Pakistan’s infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and technology sectors, thus contributing to the country’s socio-economic progress.
