The 18th Round of the Pakistan-Turkiye High Level Military Dialogue Group (HLMDG) meeting, held from 13-16 February 2024 at the Ministry of Defence, Rawalpindi, marked a significant milestone in advancing bilateral defence cooperation. Led by Lt Gen (Retd) Hamood uz Zaman Khan, Secretary Defence, Government of Pakistan, and General Irfan Ozsert, Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff, the delegations discussed a wide spectrum of mutual interests, emphasizing the commitment to elevating defence ties.
The Discussions covered security, counter-terrorism, regional dynamics, and progress since the previous meeting in Turkiye. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the current pace of cooperation and pledged to further strengthen collaboration, including joint training exercises, reciprocal visits, and co-production of defence equipment.
The congenial atmosphere of the talks culminated in an agreement to convene the 19th Round of Pakistan-Turkiye HLMDG Meeting in Turkiye in 2025, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations in defence and security realms.
