Today, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in his inaugural address to the 16th National Assembly as Speaker, underscored the paramount importance of collective efforts for the advancement of Pakistan. Emphasizing unity across political affiliations, Speaker Sadiq called upon all members to transcend differences and collaboratively work towards the nation’s progress.
In his address, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the indispensable roles played by both the government and opposition in parliamentary proceedings. He urged members to set aside partisan divisions and engage in constructive cooperation for the greater good of the nation. “The parliament thrives on unity, and it is crucial for all members to work together constructively to propel Pakistan forward,” he stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to upholding constitutional principles and the rule of law, Speaker Sadiq pledged to fulfill his duties with integrity, ensuring the impartial functioning of the National Assembly. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him, he acknowledged his nomination for the third time by party leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the collective support from party colleagues and leaders across party lines.
Speaker Sadiq extended thanks to political leaders including former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Moulana Fazl Ur Rehman, Dr. Farooq Sattar, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Abdul Aleem Khan, and others for their support. He also recognized the voters and supporters of his constituency, highlighting the significance of grassroots democracy in the legislative process. Additionally, Speaker Sadiq appreciated the participation of Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar and the opposition in the democratic process.
Openly inviting all members to engage in constructive dialogue, Speaker Sadiq urged the House to refrain from personal criticism, promoting a spirit of unity and cooperation. “This House thrives on the contributions of every member, and I urge all to participate in constructive debate for the greater good,” he emphasized.
Recognizing the media’s pivotal role, Speaker Sadiq assured full support to the Parliamentary Reporters Association, underscoring the importance of an active and responsible press in the democratic process.
Speaker Sadiq called upon all members to unite in advancing the democratic process and contributing to the development of Pakistan. “Let us work together towards a brighter future for our nation, fulfilling the aspirations of our people,” he concluded, fostering a sense of shared responsibility.
