Minister Dr. Al-Maliki: Palestine’s resolutions are unanimously approved by UNESCO

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki approved by the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), at its 219th session held today in Paris, two resolutions related to the State of Palestine, unanimously: occupied Palestine, and cultural and educational institutions. He pointed out that the adoption of these resolutions is important to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people. In the areas of UNESCO’s work, in light of the crimes and violations committed by Israel, the illegal occupying power, especially in the Gaza Strip, and its disregard for international law, international humanitarian law, and the precautionary and temporary procedures and measures of the International Court of Justice. In light of the policy of double standards and the absence of accountability for genocide crimes.

 

Al-Maliki stressed that the adoption of these resolutions is a testament to the ability of the international community to carry out its responsibilities, including by confronting violations and monitoring the damage to implement an urgent action plan to protect the Palestinian people, their cultural heritage and history, which are threatened by Israeli colonialism, and to rebuild and develop the Gaza Strip. In addition to protecting the Palestinian sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the occupied city of Jerusalem and its walls, the Holy Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.

 

Minister Malki stressed the importance of preserving schools, educational facilities, historical and religious monuments, and preserving Palestinian sanctities. And to continue working to strengthen educational and cultural institutions, by providing services and developing skills and competencies in education and in the technical and vocational field. And work to enhance the safety of journalists in the Gaza Strip, and in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in addition to rejecting excavations, works and projects in the occupied city of Jerusalem, especially in and around the Old City. And the process of constructing roads for the colonists. And the destruction of schools, including Abu Nuwar School and Tana School, and its plans to destroy Khan Al-Ahmar School.

 

And the price of D. Al-Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, discussed the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in particular, and the positions of the brotherly and friendly countries that support the unanimous adoption of these decisions.

 

It calls on the international community and UNESCO to take the necessary urgent steps to punish Israel, the occupying power, for all its violations that contravene the provisions of UNESCO conventions and resolutions, its actions that deliberately destroy holy places, and its refusal to appoint a permanent representative to UNESCO.

 

He also stressed the need to send an exploratory mission and appoint a permanent representative of the Director-General in the city of Jerusalem as soon as possible to investigate the crimes of Israeli deliberate sabotage there, and to make all necessary efforts to follow up on the crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the destruction of UNESCO’s areas of work, including schools and universities. And educational, cultural, and heritage institutions, and deliberately targeting and executing journalists, intellectuals, and writers, and preparing a relief program, rebuilding, and reviving the Gaza Strip and stopping violations of international law by immediately stopping the aggression, bringing in aid, and preventing forced displacement.
